Basketball Recap: East Clarendon Comes Up Short

East Clarendon was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They lost 73-47 to the Marion Swamp Foxes. While losing is never fun, the Wolverines can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 226th, while the Swamp Foxes are ranked 111th).

Marion was led to victory by Charles White Jr and Jameir Legette. White Jr almost dropped a double-double on 18 points and nine rebounds, while Legette almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Irenaeus Gurley, who posted eight points.

East Clarendon's loss dropped their record down to 5-11. As for Marion, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 8-10.

East Clarendon will venture away from home to challenge Lake City at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Marion, they will take on Loris in a tournament on Monday. Marion knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past six matches -- so hopefully Loris likes a good challenge.
