Softball Recap: Blue Ridge Has No Trouble Against Carbondale Area

Blue Ridge came out on top against Carbondale Area on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run fifth inning. The Raiders never let the Chargers get on the board and left with a 10-0 win. That looming 10-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Raiders yet this season.

Hailey Carpenetti made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Carpenetti was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Mel Bloomer, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. Hailey Champang was another key player, earning one RBI, one run, and two stolen bases.

The victory made it two in a row for Blue Ridge and bumps their season record up to 5-9. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 0 runs in those games. As for Carbondale Area, their loss dropped their record down to 4-8.

Looking ahead, Blue Ridge will head out on the road to take on Forest City at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Carbondale Area, they will be playing at home against Elk Lake at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Warriors will roll in looking for their tenth straight victory, something the Chargers surely won't give up without a fight.
