Soccer Game Preview: Poly vs. Chavez

The Poly Parrots will square off against the Chavez Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

If Chavez heads into halftime all tied up, they better play a good second half: that's when Poly took over last week. The Parrots walked away with a 3-1 victory over Grant on Friday. The final result isn't all that surprising considering Poly's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 269th, while Grant are ranked 839th).

Poly hit Grant with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Omar Lopez, Alfonso Valdovinos, and Ander Alfaro.

Meanwhile, Chavez had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3 goals) and they went ahead and made it six on Friday. Their defense stepped up to hand the Mustangs a 2-0 shutout. That's two games straight that Chavez have won by exactly two goals.

Chavez's win bumped their record up to 13-2-1. As for Poly, their victory bumped their record up to 9-2-1.
