Basketball Game Preview: Kewanee Boilermakers vs. Macomb Bombers

The Kewanee Boilermakers just played yesterday, but they'll still head out to face the Macomb Bombers at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Friday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Kewanee beat Erie-Prophetstown 53-48. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Boilermakers.

Meanwhile, Macomb came tearing into January 7th's match with seven straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16 points) and they left with even more momentum. They took their game with ease, bagging a 60-31 victory over the Golden Eagles. The Bombers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five contests by 22 points or more this season.

Macomb pushed their record up to 12-2 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.7 points per game. As for Kewanee, they now have a winning record of 11-10.

Kewanee was able to grind out a solid victory over Macomb in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, winning 56-44. The rematch might be a little tougher for Kewanee since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
