Basketball Recap: Cheraw Comes Up Short

Cheraw was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. The match between them and the Andrew Jackson Volunteers didn't end well, with the Cheraw Braves falling 67-51. While losing is never fun, the Braves can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 212th, while the Volunteers are ranked 58th).

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Andrew Jackson to victory, but perhaps none more so than Zeke Clyburn, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten boards. Clyburn is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last nine games he's played. Damias Seegars was another key player, putting up 14 points and three steals.

Cheraw's loss dropped their record down to 7-11. As for Andrew Jackson, the victory was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-5.

Cheraw wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 77-45 win against Buford on the 28th. As for Andrew Jackson, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 71-38 victory against Chesterfield on the 28th.
