Softball Game Preview: Wabash Apaches vs. Mississinewa Indians

Wabash hasn't had much luck against Mississinewa recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Apaches will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against the Indians at 5:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

While Wabash is heading in to the contest without a victory, things might be looking up considering their last match was the closest they've come to getting one. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 6-4 heartbreaker at the hands of Blackford. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Apaches have suffered since May 6, 2024.

Andi Conliff was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4. Gretta France also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.

Meanwhile, Mississinewa didn't have quite enough to beat Ben Davis on Saturday and fell 3-2. The loss put an end to the Indians' undefeated start to the season.

Charleigh Baledge spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits.

At the plate, Mississinewa saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Genna Couse, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Wabash's loss dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Mississinewa, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.
