Basketball Recap: Marion Takes a Loss

Marion lost against Randolph back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Marion Bulldogs lost to the Randolph Ro-Hawks on the road by a 52-34 margin. The Bulldogs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the loss, Marion still got an impressive performance from Breelon Allen, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Whitley Wiatrek, who posted 11 points and five steals.

Even though they lost, Marion was working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.6 assists per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 7.1.

Marion's defeat dropped their record down to 5-19. As for Randolph, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 10-12 record this season.

Marion has already played their next game, a 63-53 victory against Great Hearts Northern Oaks on the 17th. As for Randolph, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 48-43 loss against Cole on the 17th.
