Recap: Brookfield Bobcats vs. Kolbe-Cathedral Cougars
The Brookfield Bobcats lost against the Kolbe-Cathedral Cougars back in February of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. Brookfield had to suffer through a rough 76-47 loss at the hands of Kolbe-Cathedral. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Brookfield in their matchups with Kolbe-Cathedral: they've now lost six in a row.
When it comes to explaining why Brookfield lost, one person who can't be blamed is Shane Weber. Despite the final result, he scored 22 points along with five rebounds and three steals. That was a full 46.8% of Brookfield's points, marking the 15th time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Josh Merchant was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with seven rebounds.
Brookfield's defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 9-6. As for Kolbe-Cathedral, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 13-0.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Brookfield will take on Stratford at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Stratford is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak. As for Kolbe-Cathedral, they the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Newtown at 7:00 p.m. on February 1st. Newtown will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Connecticut Rankings (they are ranked 70th, while Kolbe-Cathedral is ranked second).
