Softball Game Preview: Emmett Huskies vs. Bishop Kelly Knights

Emmett hasn't had much luck against Bishop Kelly recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. Emmett will look to defend their home field against Bishop Kelly at 5:00 p.m. Emmett has given up an average of 8 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Emmett is headed into Tuesday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their seventh straight game dating back to last season on Friday. They came up short against Nampa, falling 15-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Huskies have suffered against the Bulldogs since April 12, 2019.

Emmett saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Oakley Scheibe, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Bishop Kelly faced Mountain View in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. Bishop Kelly fell just short of Mountain View by a score of 9-8. The loss was the Knights' first of the season.

Gracie Cammann was cooking despite her team's loss, firing off two home runs, three runs, and three RBI while going 3-for-4. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. Olivia Watt was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.

Even though they lost, Bishop Kelly kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits every time they've taken the field this season.

Having lost for the first time this season, Bishop Kelly fell to 8-1. As for Emmett, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-6.

Emmett beat Bishop Kelly 8-3 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Will Emmett repeat their success, or does Bishop Kelly has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
