Baseball Recap: Southern Lab Snaps Six-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

Southern Lab won the last time they faced East Feliciana and things went their way on Thursday too. Everything went the Southern Lab Kittens' way against the East Feliciana Tigers as the Southern Lab Kittens made off with a 19-5 win. Considering the Kittens have won four matches by more than 11 runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Jamar Gardner made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out ten batters over four innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Gardner was even better at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. He is becoming a predictor of Southern Lab's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 1-3 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, Southern Lab got a massive performance out of Ashton Jenkins, who scored four runs and stole Three bases. while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Jenkins has become a key player for Southern Lab: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 1-3 otherwise. Jeremy Johnson was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing Two bases. while going 2-for-3.

Southern Lab always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .588. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Southern Lab's victory ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-3. As for East Feliciana, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Coming up, Southern Lab will welcome Madison Prep Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Southern Lab is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 11.7 runs per game this season. As for East Feliciana, they will venture away from home to take on Port Allen at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Port Allen's pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so East Feliciana's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
