Basketball Game Preview: Hubbard Greyhounds vs. Dunbar Mightymen

Hubbard is 0-5 against Dunbar since December of 2018 but things could change on Thursday. The Hubbard Greyhounds will take on the Dunbar Mightymen at 5:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Hubbard is headed into Thursday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their seventh straight game two weeks ago. They had to suffer through a 83-12 loss at the hands of King. While losing is never fun, the Greyhounds can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 722nd, while the Jaguars are ranked 274th).

Meanwhile, Dunbar fought the good fight in their overtime game against King on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Jaguars by a score of 70-67. The Mightymen's defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Dunbar's loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 6-1 and their overall record down to 14-6. As for Hubbard, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-9.

Hubbard couldn't quite finish off Dunbar when the teams last played back in January of 2024 and fell 2-0. Can Hubbard avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
