Basketball Preview: Owyhee Braves vs. Carlin Railroaders
Owyhee is 10-0 against the Railroaders since January of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Owyhee Braves will be playing in front of their home fans against the Carlin Railroaders at 6:00 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
Owyhee has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 62-40 walloping at the hands of McDermitt on Thursday. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Owyhee in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now lost four in a row.
Meanwhile, Carlin's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their fifth straight loss. They were outmatched by McDermitt at home and fell 62-10. While losing is never fun, Carlin can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nevada basketball rankings (they are ranked 98th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 25th).
Owyhee's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-7. As for Carlin, they dropped their record down to 3-15 with that defeat, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season.
Everything came up roses for Owyhee against the Railroaders in their previous meeting last Wednesday as the squad secured a 56-23 win. Does Owyhee have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Railroaders turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
