Preview: Burlington Cougars vs. Holyoke Dragons
The Burlington Cougars will look to defend their home field on Saturday against the Holyoke Dragons at 7:00 p.m. Burlington is out to stop a five-game streak of losses at home.
Last Friday, Burlington had to suffer through a rough 53-6 loss at the hands of Wray. Burlington was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 27-0.
Despite the defeat, Burlington saw an underclassman step up: Jason Saucedo rushed for 56 yards and a touchdown. Saucedo was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 56 yards.
Meanwhile, Holyoke can now show off six landslide victories after their most recent contest on Friday. They took their game at home with ease, bagging a 42-0 win over Y. Given Holyoke's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado football rankings (they are ranked 32nd, while Y is ranked 120th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Wray's victory bumped their season record to 5-3 while Burlington's loss dropped theirs to 1-7.
Burlington might still be hurting after the 28-7 defeat they got from Holyoke in their previous meeting back in October of 2022. Will Burlington have more luck at home instead of on the road?
