Basketball Recap: Harlan County Comes Up Short

After flying high against Scott County last Saturday, Harlan County came back down to earth. The Harlan County Black Bears fell just short of the Bell County Bobcats by a score of 54-52 on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Black Bears have suffered since January 30, 2024.

Harlan County's loss dropped their record down to 17-7. As for Bell County, the win was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 22-4.

Harlan County will be playing in front of their home fans against Middlesboro at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Bell County, a feisty cat fight is on tap when the Bell County Bobcats challenge the Knox Central Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Knox Central knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past five matchups -- so hopefully Bell County likes a good challenge.
