Basketball Recap: Rapides Comes Up Short

Rapides extended their losing streak to eight on Monday, dropping them down to 2-8. They took a blow against the Mamou Demons, falling 70-40. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 259th, while the Demons are ranked 73rd).

As for Mamou, the win was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 11-2. They have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six games by 21 points or more this season.

Mamou found their leader in freshman Ernest Dugas, who posted 19 points.

Rapides will wrap up 2025 with a road trip to face off against Northwood at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Mamou, they will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Kinder at 7:00 p.m. on January 6, 2026.
