Football Game Preview: Belmont Sentinels vs. Contreras Cobras

Belmont is preparing for their first league matchup of the season on Friday. They are taking a road trip to square off against the Contreras Cobras at 4:00 p.m. Belmont's offense hasn't had much luck over their past four contests, but Friday's matchup will give them a chance to turn things around.

Belmont is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. Their defense stepped up to hand Torres a 10-0 shutout on Friday. The Sentinels haven't had any issues with the Toros recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Meanwhile, Contreras fought the good fight in their overtime game against George Washington Prep last Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 21-14 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Generals. While the Cobras didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Generals 7-0 in the first quarter.

Even if they lost, Contreras' defense still kept up the pressure with four sacks. Charbel Keyrouz was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two himself. Keyrouz is also crushing it when it comes to total tackles: he's made at least six every time he's taken the field this season. Jayden Rocha was another major factor on D, forcing one fumble and making ten total tackles.

Belmont's win bumped their record up to 2-3. As for Contreras, they now also have a losing record of 2-3.

Belmont took a serious blow against Contreras when the teams last played back in October of 2024, falling 42-0. Can the Sentinels avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
