Edwardsville is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Illinois' top teams: O'Fallon, who was ranked 19th at the time (Edwardsville was ranked fifth). The Tigers fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 3-2 on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, East St. Louis fell victim to Belleville West and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They lost 13-0 to the Maroons. The Flyers just can't catch a break and have now endured three losses in a row.

East St. Louis' defeat dropped their record down to 5-16. As for Edwardsville, their loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 19-9.

Edwardsville took their win against East St. Louis when the teams last played back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 15-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tigers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
