Softball Recap: Perry Bluejays vs. Hoover Huskies

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Boone, Perry was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They put the hurt on the Hoover Huskies with a sharp 14-7 victory. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for Perry considering their one-run performance the matchup before.

Maci Tunink spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and two unearned) runs on 12 hits and racked up seven Ks.

On the hitting side, Emmalee Bell was incredible, going 3-for-4 with a home run, four RBI, and a double. Another player making a difference was Kalley Whelchel, who scored two runs while going 3-for-5.

Perry's win bumped their record up to 8-18. As for Hoover, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season.

Perry will face off against Denison-Schleswig at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Perry is no doubt hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses. As for Hoover, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, an 18-8 loss vs. Marshalltown on the 9th.
