Basketball Recap: Sanford Piles Up the Points Against Sargent

Sanford waltzed into their contest on Saturday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They claimed a resounding 61-27 win over the Sargent Farmers. The Mustangs have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Farmers, too.

Loss or not, Sargent got some senior leadership from Lucas Garcia and Fernando Venzor. Garcia posted nine points in addition to six rebounds and three steals, while Venzor earned nine points.

Sanford's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-4. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.0 points per game. As for Sargent, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season.

Sanford will head out to face off against Monte Vista at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Sargent, they will be playing in front of their home fans against South Park at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
