Basketball Game Preview: Roncalli Jets vs. Brillion Lions

The Roncalli Jets will take on the Brillion Lions in a holiday battle at at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Roncalli is looking for their season's first victory.

Roncalli lost 64-38 to Valders on Thursday. While losing is never fun, the Jets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin basketball rankings (they are ranked 281st, while the Vikings are ranked 51st).

Brillion played in conference for the first time on Thursday and they got just the result they we're looking for. They breezed by Two Rivers to the tune of 63-17. The Lions have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four contests by 22 points or more this season.

Brillion found their leader in sophomore Emma Schuh, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 14 boards. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Schuh has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Amaya Brooks, who posted 13 points and five assists.

Brillion smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive boards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive rebound total in three consecutive games.

Roncalli's defeat dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Brillion, they now have a winning record of 4-3.

Roncalli came up short against Brillion in their previous meeting back in February, falling 76-69. Can Roncalli avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
