Softball Recap: Port Clinton Takes a Loss

Port Clinton had lost three straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 12-12 to make it four. They lost 11-1 to the Edison Chargers. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Chargers this season, with their most recent loss being a 10-0 defeat on Friday.

Port Clinton saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jae Mazur, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

As for Edison, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.4 runs on average over those games.

On Edison's side, the team relied heavily on Stella Brown, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. That's the most hits Brown has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Peyton Taylor, who went 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Coming up, Port Clinton will face off against St. Joseph Central Catholic at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Redskins' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Crimson Streaks have averaged an impressive 8.6 runs per game this season. As for Edison, they will take on Oak Harbor at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday. The Rockets' pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so the Chargers' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
