Softball Recap: Make It Five in a Row for Hector

Hector put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. Everything went their way against the Westside Rebels as the Hector Wildcats made off with a 17-2 victory. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Wildcats also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2024.

Sarena Myers made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than ten strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Abigail Dodson, who scored four runs and stole a base while going 4-for-4. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Addison Campbell was another key player, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

Hector was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .647. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .500 or higher in three consecutive matches.

Hector's record now sits at 5-0. As for Westside, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Coming up, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Hector Wildcats duke it out with Acorn Tigers at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Westside, they have already played their next game, a 27-5 loss against Charleston on the 17th.
