Baseball Recap: Five Straight Home Wins for Cathedral Prep

Cathedral Prep waltzed into their matchup on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They put the hurt on the Sacred Heart Irish with a sharp 14-4 win. The result was nothing new for the Crusaders, who have now won four games by ten runs or more so far this season.

Ryan Gallagher made a splash while hitting and pitching. He pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Gallagher was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Akeel Dobson was incredible, going a perfect 5-for-5 with three stolen bases, five RBI, and two runs. He also put up a triple, which was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Adrian Caban, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

Cathedral Prep pushed their record up to 5-2 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.4 runs on average over those games. As for Sacred Heart, they are on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cathedral Prep will face off against LaSalle Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Sacred Heart, they will host Christ the King at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
