East Coweta is preparing for their first region matchup of the season on Friday. They will face off against the Douglas County Tigers at 7:30 p.m. East Coweta has given up an average of 38.8 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

East Coweta is headed into the matchup out to prove that what happened against Cambridge on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Indians lost 45-21 to the Bears. The Indians were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 31-7.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Douglas County, who bounced back after a loss on the road on September 12th. They managed a 6-0 victory over Columbia on Friday. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Tigers' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked ninth, while the Eagles are ranked 160th).

East Coweta's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Douglas County, their win bumped their record up to 4-2.

Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. East Coweta has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 195.2 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Douglas County struggles in that department as they've been averaging 175.2 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.

East Coweta suffered a grim 42-17 defeat to Douglas County in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. That matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Indians were down 28-3.
