Recap: Acadiana Christian Lions vs. Word of God Academy Force

The Acadiana Christian Lions have been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were just a bucket shy of victory on Friday and fell 49-48 to Word of God Academy.

Acadiana Christian's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ty Olivier, who scored 24 points along with six rebounds and four steals. That was a full 50% of Acadiana Christian's points, marking the sixth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Noah Lanclos, who scored 18 points along with five assists and five rebounds.

Word of God Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Taj Bell led the charge by dropping a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds. Bell hasn't dropped below nine rebounds for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Zyere Cartwright, who scored 14 points.

Acadiana Christian's defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-6. As for Word of God Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season.

Acadiana Christian will head out on the road to take on the Patriots at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Christian Home Educators Fellowship will be looking to extend their current 20-game winning streak. As for Word of God Academy, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against the Guardians at 1:00 p.m. on January 20th.
