Baseball Game Preview: North Boone Vikings vs. Rock Falls Rockets

The North Boone Vikings are taking a road trip to take on the Rock Falls Rockets at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (North Boone has six straight victories, Rock Falls has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

On Saturday, North Boone made easy work of Harvard and carried off an 11-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Vikings, who have now won 17 games by six runs or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, Rock Falls fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against North Boone on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Vikings by a score of 6-5. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last seven times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Rock Falls saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was AJ Moore, who went 3-for-4 with one RBI. Moore has been hot recently, having posted three or more hits the last three times he's played.

North Boone's victory was their 12th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 25-4. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games. As for Rock Falls, their loss dropped their record down to 10-15-1.

North Boone came out on top in a nail-biter against Rock Falls in their previous matchup on Thursday, sneaking past 6-5. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Vikings since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
