Basketball Recap: Mathews Takes a Loss

Mathews lost against Harding back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Mathews Mustangs fell to the Harding Skippers 59-53.

Harding got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Yomar Castellano out in front who went 7-for-16 on his way to 17 points along with five assists and four steals. The game was Castellano's eighth in a row with at least 16 points. Jan Castellano was another key player, putting up 12 points and eight rebounds.

Mathews' loss dropped their record down to 16-5. As for Harding, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season.

Mathews wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 70-68 victory against Columbiana on the 14th. As for Harding, they have also already played their next game, a 69-55 win against Cardinal on the 14th.
