Volleyball Recap: Fairmont Comes Up Short

Fairmont was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss dating back to last season. They came up short against the Lumberton Pirates, falling 3-0. The Golden Tornadoes were not able to make up for their defeat to the Pirates from their previous meeting back in September of 2024.

The final score came out to 25-15, 25-12, 25-9.

Kimiyah Smith paced Fairmont's offense, picking up five kills. Smith got some help from Layla Hunt and her five assists. Cecila Chavis controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.

Fairmont's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Lumberton, they pushed their record up to 2-0 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Fairmont will venture away from home to face off against Purnell Swett at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Lumberton, they will head out to take on West Brunswick at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
