Basketball Preview: Arp Tigers vs. Tatum Eagles
Arp is 0-9 against the Eagles since December of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Arp Tigers will head out on the road to face off against the Tatum Eagles at 6:15 p.m. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Arp has struggled recently with three losses in a row, while the Eagles will arrive with 12 straight victories.
Last Friday, Arp had to suffer through a rough 56-18 loss at the hands of the Bulldogs. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Arp in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now lost eight in a row.
Meanwhile, Tatum stacked a 21st blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They took their match on the road with ease, bagging a 89-56 win over West Rusk. Given Tatum's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 216th, while the Raiders are ranked 1168th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Arp's loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 5-24. As for Tatum, their victory bumped their record up to 26-1.
Arp was taken down by the Eagles 80-17 when the teams last played back in January. Can Arp avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
