Softball Recap: Sauk Centre's Win Ends Four-Game Losing Streak on the Road

Sauk Centre came out on top against Holdingford on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run seventh inning. The Mainstreeters took their matchup against the Huskers 5-1. The Mainstreeters have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Huskers, too.

Jenna Riley spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Jayden Lahr and Anna Feltman did most of the damage at the plate: Lahr went 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI, while Feltman went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Those two stolen bases gave Feltman a new career-high. Kendra Korton also deserves some recognition as she got her first hits of the season.

Sauk Centre was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Holdingford only posted a batting average of .148.

Sauk Centre's win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-9. As for Holdingford, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sauk Centre will take on Albany at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. As for Holdingford, they will square off against Royalton at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
