Softball Recap: Hawley Gets the Win

It's playoff time, and Hawley had no trouble coming through when it counted. They won by a run and slipped past the Bangs Dragons 7-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Bearcats have posted since March 28th.

Lily Bailey made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over seven innings while giving up six earned runs off seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Aubrie Frazier, who went 2-for-4 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in April of 2024.

Hawley's win bumped their record up to 14-15. As for Bangs, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 22-7.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Dragons beat Hawley by a score of 8-7 later that day.
