Basketball Recap: Kaleel Benjamin Key Part of a Team Effort in Spartans Win

Sun Valley picked up another tournament win on Monday. They secured a 56-50 W over the LEAD Academy Panthers.

Sun Valley's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kaleel Benjamin led the charge by almost dropping a double-double on 15 points and nine rebounds. Thanasi Papazis was another key player, putting up ten points and six assists.

Despite the loss, LEAD Academy still got an impressive performance from Anthony Petway, who went 7 of 10 on his way to 19 points along with eight assists and five steals. Petway has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 18 times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Darnell Seay, who posted nine points and seven boards.

Sun Valley's record is now 6-7. As for LEAD Academy, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-7.

Sun Valley didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 55-36 defeat against Cuthbertson on the 7th. As for LEAD Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, an 84-58 loss against Brentwood Academy on the 3rd.
