League recap: Greene County stuns Union County in upset

The biggest upset of the week belonged to Union County, who took down 272nd ranked Union County, 37-19.

Greene County moved up to 385 from 420 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in AA Region 8. The Tigers were able to make move up by besting the Panthers 37-19.

Rabun County's dynamic duo of Wes Holcombe and Kendall Woodard proved tough for Washington-Wilkes to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Holcombe threw for 183 yards and two touchdowns and Woodard had 70 yards receiving. Clint Scott helped Rabun County's passing attack out by catching seven balls for 51 yards.

Adrian Humphrey was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 168 yards on 23 carries as Riverside Military Academy fell to the Tigers. Elijah Holyfield also contributed to the rushing game with 165 yards on the ground.

Rabun County's Holcombe and Charlie Woerner have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Holcombe has thrown for 1202 yards this season, while Woerner has 22 catches for 471 yards. Kendrick Presley from Oglethorpe County leads the league in rushing with 663 yards.

A big matchup in AA Region 8 this week will be when Lee Shaw's team takes on Union County. The Wildcats are in fourth place, while the Panthers are in third place.

Jefferson extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating the Patriots, 43-0. The victory was the sixth in a row for the Dragons.
