Preview: Red Bay Tigers vs. Tuscaloosa Academy Knights
The Red Bay Tigers will head out on the road to face off against the Tuscaloosa Academy Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Last Friday, Red Bay blew past Phil Campbell, posting a 52-20 win on the road.
Jaxon Vinson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 203 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 9.2 yards per carry.
Meanwhile, Tuscaloosa Academy entered their tilt with Holt with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. Tuscaloosa Academy put the hurt on Holt with a sharp 39-16 win on Friday. Tuscaloosa Academy pushed the score to 39-0 by the end of the third, a deficit Holt cut but never quite recovered from.
Tuscaloosa Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Preston Lancaster led the charge by throwing for 289 yards and three touchdowns while completing 78.9% of his passes. Lancaster is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in the last three games he's played. Nicholas (nic) evans also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Another reason for the win was Tuscaloosa Academy's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for six sacks. In that department, Jeffrey Coleman was the leader with two sacks.
Their wins bumped Red Bay to 6-4 and Tuscaloosa Academy to 8-2.
