Basketball Recap: Austin Maroons vs. St. Michael's Warriors
Austin had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They blew past the St. Michael's Warriors 55-27 on Monday.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Austin to victory, but perhaps none more so than Foley Anderson, who posted 11 points plus seven rebounds and four steals. The dominant performance also gave Anderson a new career-high in assists (two). Another player making a difference was Jillian Shirk, who went 5 for 11 en route to 14 points plus seven rebounds and three steals.
Austin smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in four consecutive matches dating back to last season.
Austin will square off against Kinkaid at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday. As for St. Michael's, they will challenge Eastside Early College at 9:00 a.m. on Friday.
