Basketball Recap: Wellington Has No Trouble Against Inlet Grove

Wellington won the last time they faced Inlet Grove and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Wellington Wolverines blew past the Inlet Grove Hurricanes 70-44. Given the Wolverines' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 27th, while the Hurricanes are ranked 261st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Despite the defeat, Inlet Grove saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Ja?Marcus Johnson went 7 of 13 on his way to 15 points and five boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Benson Murat, who posted six points.

Wellington has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 16-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.4 points per game. As for Inlet Grove, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 13-6.

Wellington will be playing at home against Lake Worth at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Lake Worth has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 196 points over their last three games. As for Inlet Grove, they will venture away from home to square off against American Heritage at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
