Notre Dame Prep extended their losing streak to five on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 10-13 in the process. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-3 heartbreaker at the hands of the Ridgefield Tigers. The Lancers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Tigers earlier this season, when they won 7-5.
As for Ridgefield, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 15-10. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games.
For Ridgefield's part, Caitlin McGratty spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on eight hits and racked up six Ks. McGratty has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 15 consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Maddie Muncy was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Sonia Gaughran, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
