Softball Game Preview: San Ramon Valley Wolves vs. Carondelet Cougars

For the first time this season, San Ramon Valley will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup on Thursday. They will host the Carondelet Cougars at 4:00 p.m. San Ramon Valley is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.

Carondelet will be up against a hot San Ramon Valley squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. San Ramon Valley was the clear victors by a 9-2 margin over Hillsdale on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Wolves, who have now won three matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Lila McLeod spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on six hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Sophia Jin was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Kayden West, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Carondelet hadn't done well against Monte Vista recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Carondelet came out on top against Monte Vista by a score of 11-7. The game was the first time the Cougars have beaten the Mustangs on their field since April 22, 2021.

Kaitlin Clement was a standout: she scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Norie Umene, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.

Carondelet's win bumped their record up to 2-3. As for San Ramon Valley, their victory bumped their record up to 4-0-1.
