Football Game Preview: Pleasant Grove Eagles vs. Cosumnes Oaks Wolfpack + How To Watch

The Pleasant Grove Eagles will face off against the Cosumnes Oaks Wolfpack at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Things were looking good for Pleasant Grove after they put the first points on the board on Friday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell 39-34 to Franklin. The Eagles were up 14-0 in the first quarter but couldn't hold on to the lead.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Robert Wainaina, who rushed for 131 yards and one touchdown on only nine carries, and also picked up 40 receiving yards and a pair of TDs. Another back making a difference was Hekili Hernandez, who rushed for 124 yards and a pair of scores.

Even if they lost, Pleasant Grove's defensive line still kept up the pressure with five sacks. Rafael Villanueva was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two himself.

Meanwhile, Cosumnes Oaks came into Friday's game having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They strolled past Sheldon with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 34-16. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Pleasant Grove has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-3 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 30.0 points over those games. As for Cosumnes Oaks, their victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 2-5.

Pleasant Grove took their win against Cosumnes Oaks in their previous meeting back in October of 2024 by a conclusive 24-0 score. Do the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Wolfpack turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
