Basketball Recap: Phoenix Christian Takes a Loss

If Phoenix Christian was riding high fresh off their 65-44 takedown of Camp Verde last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Phoenix Christian Cougars fell 40-33 to the Gilbert Classical Academy Spartans on Monday. The Cougars were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Spartans apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in November of 2022.

Phoenix Christian has also been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-10 record this season. As for Gilbert Classical Academy, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-9.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Phoenix Christian will head out to face off against Madison Highland Prep at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Phoenix Christian is facing Madison Highland Prep at the right time seeing as Madison Highland Prep is stuck on a 13-game losing streak. As for Gilbert Classical Academy, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against San Tan Charter at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Gilbert Classical Academy will also cruise into their next game with the timing on their side: San Tan Charter will have lost seven straight heading into Tuesday's contest.
