Volleyball Recap: Kingwood Comes Up Short

Kingwood was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Round Rock Westwood Warriors.

Despite the defeat, Kingwood saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Molly O'Leary had 11 digs and two assists. Those 11 digs set a new season-high mark for O'Leary. Lydia McKinney also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

Kingwood's loss dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Round Rock Westwood, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 3-6.

Kingwood has already played their next matchup, a 2-1 defeat against Royse City on the 16th. As for Round Rock Westwood, they will head out on the road to challenge Vandegrift at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The game will give the Warriors their first taste of in-conference action this season.
