Football Recap: Lauderdale County Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Lauderdale County extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping them down to 3-3. They received a blow as they fell 38-21 to the Brooks Lions. The Tigers were not able to make up for their loss to the Lions from their previous meeting back in September of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Lauderdale County lost, don't look at Calvin Watkins. Despite the final result, he rushed for 48 yards and a pair of TDs, and also threw for 75 yards and one touchdown.

As for Brooks, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 3-2. The home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 33.3 points over those games.

Brooks found their leader in sophomore Tanner Bowens, who rushed for 157 yards and a pair of scores on only 13 carries, and also threw for 212 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 10.6 yards per attempt. The Lions' leading receiver Samuel Hamner was Bowens' top target yet again, picking up 106 receiving yards and one TD.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Lauderdale County will head out to challenge Clements at 7:00 p.m. on October 3. As for Brooks, they will venture away from home to face off against Danville at 7:00 p.m. on October 3.
