Softball Recap: Boyle County Takes a Loss

Boyle County dropped their record down to 7-10 on Tuesday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Mercer County Titans by a score of 5-4. The Rebels were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Titans apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2021.

As for Mercer County, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 11-5. That's two games straight that they have won by just one run.

For Mercer County's part, Mia Floro was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Those three RBI gave Floro a new career-high. Natalie Johnson was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Boyle County will square off against North Laurel at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Rebels' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Jaguars have averaged an impressive 7.5 runs per game this season. As for Mercer County, they will take on South Laurel at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Titans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cardinals have averaged an impressive 9.6 runs per game this season.
