Brother Rice and St. Laurence are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2021, but likely not for long. The Crusaders will challenge the Vikings at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The last three games Brother Rice has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Brother Rice took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Chicago Mt. Carmel, sneaking past 5-4.

Brady Cunningham was excellent, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Gavin Triezenberg, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Meanwhile, St. Laurence waltzed into their game on Tuesday with 21 straight wins... but they left with 22. They were the clear victors by an 11-4 margin over the Rams. Considering the Vikings have won 16 matches by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Brother Rice pushed their record up to 27-2 with the win, which was their 17th straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for St. Laurence, their win bumped their record up to 26-3.

Brother Rice couldn't quite get it done against St. Laurence in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 as they fell 5-1. Can the Crusaders avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
