Preview: Zephyrhills Bulldogs vs. Dunnellon Tigers
The Zephyrhills Bulldogs will head out on the road to face off against the Dunnellon Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Dunnellon took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Zephyrhills, who comes in off a win.
Zephyrhills can now show off four landslide victories after their most recent game on Friday. They claimed a resounding 63-35 win over Cypress Creek on the road. The win made it back-to-back wins for Zephyrhills.
Tristan Lennon went supernova for Zephyrhills, rushing for 226 yards and three touchdowns on only 12 carries. Lennon's longest rush was for an incredible 90 yards. Rodney Smith was another key contributor, rushing for 115 yards and three touchdowns on only 15 carries.
Meanwhile, Dunnellon unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Friday. They were just a hair shy of victory and fell 13-12 to South Sumter. Having soared to a lofty 42 points in the game before, Dunnellon couldn't push the score so high this time.
Despite the defeat, Dunnellon had strong showings from Dylan Donahoe, who rushed for 108 yards and a touchdown, and Chris Henry, who rushed for 82 yards on only nine carries.
Zephyrhills' win bumped their record up to 7-2. As for Dunnellon, their loss dropped their record down to 6-3.
Zephyrhills took their win against Dunnellon in their previous meeting back in November of 2022 by a conclusive 41-21. The rematch might be a little tougher for Zephyrhills since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
