North Rowan had lost six straight on the road, but on Wednesday they dropped down to 2-15 to make it seven. They came up short against the Ragsdale Tigers, falling 13-3. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Tigers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 17-0 back in March.
Zane Smith made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. Another player making a difference was Justin Tyler, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
As for Ragsdale, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 12-8. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won eight matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.
On Ragsdale's side, Ky Henry was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Henry has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one triple. Those two runs gave him a new career-high.
In other pitching news, Micha Swahnville looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five).
Back at the plate, Ragsdale let Braylon Louis and Kyle Maness run wild. Louis went 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Maness went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Louis has become a key player for Ragsdale: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 6-8 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Camden McGill, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. North Rowan will challenge Union Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Ragsdale, they will take on Southwest Guilford at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
