Basketball Game Preview: Arizona School for the Deaf & Blind Sentinels vs. Mayer Wildcats

The Arizona School for the Deaf & Blind Sentinels will venture away from home to take on the Mayer Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for Arizona School for the Deaf & Blind and five for Mayer.

Back in December of 2024, Arizona School for the Deaf & Blind might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting Dishchii'bikoh an easy 69-46 win.

Despite the loss, Arizona School for the Deaf & Blind saw an underclassman step up: freshman Irving Arizmendi posted 23 points and five rebounds. That was a full 50% of Arizona School for the Deaf & Blind's points, marking the sixth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Zephianh Little, who put up 14 points and four steals.

Meanwhile, Mayer lost to Mogollon on the road by a 49-35 margin on Wednesday.

Mayer's defeat dropped their record down to 1-10. As for Arizona School for the Deaf & Blind, their loss dropped their record down to 2-8.
