Baseball Recap: Upperman Makes It Eight in a Row on the Road

It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Upperman ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 win over the Red Bank Lions. The victory was familiar territory for the Bees, who have now won three games in a row.

Julian Llano made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Llano wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Braden Green, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI.

Upperman pushed their record up to 25-11 with the win, which was their eighth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Red Bank, with the loss, they broke their six-game winning streak and moved their record to 23-17.

Upperman will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Lions: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
