Volleyball Recap: Charleston Collegiate's Run of Four Straight Wins Now Over

If Charleston Collegiate was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Cathedral Academy on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Sundevils came up short against the Porter-Gaud Cyclones on Wednesday, falling 3-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Sundevils have suffered since August 26th.

While Charleston Collegiate was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into Porter-Gaud's winning margin in every set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-8, 25-11, 25-17.

Evie Baslow paced Charleston Collegiate's offense, picking up ten kills. Baslow got some help from Vika Vuyiv and her 11 assists. Finally, Kayla Sellers kept Charleston Collegiate's defense grounded, leading the team with three blocks.

Porter-Gaud was led to victory by Anouk Barnes and Anna Poliakoff. Barnes had eight digs and one assist, while Poliakoff had four digs and two aces. Those four digs gave Poliakoff a new career-high.
