Baseball Recap: La Mirada Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

La Mirada waltzed into their matchup on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They walked away with an 8-3 win over the Warren Bears. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent victory being a 23-4 win back in March.

Kaden Corns looked comfortable as he pitched four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits.

On the hitting side, Bear Calvo and Travis Friend did most of the damage at the plate: Calvo went 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI, while Friend went 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI Calvo has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Kevin Jeon, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

La Mirada kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in three consecutive games.

La Mirada pushed their record up to 13-2 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Warren, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-6.

La Mirada and Warren should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. The Matadores (ranked third) will meet Downey (ranked 126th) at 3:15 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Warren will face off against Woodrow Wilson at 6:30 p.m. on the 11th with a big rank advantage (83 vs. 244).
